What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga Yoga
It is a very dynamic and athletic form of Hatha yoga, with a fixed order of postures.
This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures, a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.
In Ashtanga, the postures follow a sequence, with each pose linked to the next in a continuous flow of movement (vinyasa) and sustained by a special form of deep rhythmic breathing called “ujjayi breath”.
With the right intention, it is profound spiritual practice channeling energy and preparing the physical body for the subtler forms of advanced yoga.
